As part of the national PICAC network, Fortis provides a collection of resources to support the aged care sector.

Arthritis Australia provides information sheets in multiple languages on Arthritis conditions and support. Other resources such as booklets and videos are also available on their website.

Advance Care Planning Australia (ACPA) provides information and resources to individuals, care workers, and healthcare professionals to improve this cooperation. 

The BreastScreen WA program provides free screening mammograms to all women 40 years or over.

Carers WA is a non-profit, community based organisation and registered charity dedicated to improving the lives of the estimated 320,000 family carers living in Western Australia.

The Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing provides expertise and multilingual resources for culturally inclusive policy and practices for the aged services sector. 

The Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing and Red Hat Films has produced a short video to encourage older people from culturally & linguistically diverse backgrounds to ask for what they need from Aged Care Services.

As WA representatives for the PICAC alliance, Fortis Consulting are seeking your support in assisting the government’s evaluation of the Department of Health Aged Care COVID-19 Grief and Trauma Response Package. 

The Department is eager to hear from multicultural communities about what is working in the current Package and what needs to be improved. 

This is the stakeholder survey for people working in the aged care sector.

WA Health has developed a range of video and social media tiles to promote COVID-safety for WA’s culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) communities.

The Department of Health has factsheets in several languages about what to expect after contracting COVID-19, and what to do about getting tested.

The Department of Health has developed downloadable, DOH – Translated resources about rapid antigen tests (RAT) in Australia.
The translated resources include:
– general information about rapid antigen tests
– where to get rapid antigen tests
– how to use rapid antigen tests correctly
– understanding rapid antigen test results
– what to do if a rapid antigen test is positive.

The Department of Health has factsheets in several languages answering questions about the COVID-19 vaccine(s).

The Dementia Australia website outlines steps you can take to find out more about dementia, including advice on observing warning signs and preparing a list of concerns to take to your doctor.

Diabetes WA informs, educates and supports thousands of Western Australians, helping them to better manage their diabetes. This in turn enables them to lead happier, healthier lives.

Information on what elective surgery is and how to access elective surgery through WA public hospitals is available on the WA DoH website. 

NSW Nurses and Midwives Association has produced a series of leaflets focusing on consumer knowledge in aged care.

Rural Locum Assistance Program (Rural LAP) provides targeted rural support services to general practitioners, specialists, nurses and allied health professionals in rural and remote Australia. 

Eligible Aged care providers in rural and remote Australia can now apply for free matching service from Rural LAP.

Mental Health Foundation Australia (MHFA) runs free, non – judgmental peer to peer mental health support groups; including CALD LGBTQA+, South East Asian Women and Gender Identity support groups.

Multicultural library provides a supportive environment or seniors from diverse backgrounds to access more than 3000 books and information about the aged care system in multiple languages. 

The Mental Health Access Service in Wanneroo is for people from a migrant or refugee background who need assistance with mental health.

Interpreters available as required. 

My Aged Care provides information on caring for someone with dementia

The National Bowel Cancer Screening Program (NBCSP) invites eligible people starting at age 50 and continuing to age 74 (without symptoms) to screen for bowel cancer using a free, simple test at home.

The Office of the Public Advocate (OPA) works to promote and protect the human rights of more than 65,000 Western Australian adults with decision-making disabilities.

Stay On Your Feet® provides information and resources for older adults, their friends and family and health professionals to prevent slips, trips and falls.

The interpreting service TIS National provides immediate, pre-booked and automated phone interpreting, as well as on-site interpreting services. Costs of this service will be covered for aged care providers when communicating with aged care recipients.  Find out how to access departmentally-funded interpreting services on the department’s website.

 The Umbrella Multicultural Community Care organisation has developed a tool to assist people to understand how their aged care budget works depending on their level of the package. It explains the

different parts of the funding and how it relates to service delivery.

Umbrella Multicultural Community Care organisation provides a chart to compare aged care service providers and their prices. Generally, aged care providers should disclose all of this information to you.

The Multi Dose Webster-pak is a sealed weekly calendar pack designed to help people take their medication correctly, according to their doctor’s orders. All regular medication that needs to be taken each week is sealed within the blister
compartments. The Webster-pak is designed to be as simple as possible.
