Fortis Consulting & Screenwest Advocate for Diversity
In recognition of our expertise in diversity, Screenwest recently engaged Fortis Consulting to work with the industry, and Screenwest, to develop a strategic diversity plan.
In the past few months we have been very busy consulting with the screen industry and advocates of diversity in the screen industry to contribute to an informed Diversity Strategy. On Monday the 5th of December, a diversity consultation forum was held to hear the opinions, stories & ideas of the public and the screen industry. Those at the forum also heard from a range of guest speakers including Screen Australia’s Graeme Mason, Screenwest Chair Janelle Marr, and Actor, Producer and Co-Chair of the Equity Diversity Committee Bali Padda. An online survey was also developed to gather valuable public and industry input.
In addition to the consultation forum and online survey, Fortis and Screenwest released a short paper to inform and stimulate discussion, Developing a Western Australian Screen Industry Diversity Plan. WA’s screen content and workforce does not reflect the diversity of our state and certain parts of the community are not having their stories told. This discussion paper based on desktop research will inform the consultation.
